The Charleston Apartment Association (CAA) was honored to recently provide the Lowcountry Continuum of Care (COC) a contribution in the amount of $8,056. Over 75 CAA members rallied to contribute through participation in a golf tournament dedicated to raise funds and awareness for COC.
The COC, part of One80 Place, plans, develops and implements comprehensive and coordinated strategies to address homelessness in the South Carolina lowcountry. They offer case management services, guaranteed rent payments, security deposit assistance and ready-to-rent tenants.
COC’s Access Points act as a triage and referral service to connect people experiencing housing instability or homelessness to resources. This service can be accessed through phone, text, email, online and in person with One80 Place’s outreach staff. People who connect to an access point have the opportunity to share their situation and are asked questions in order to identify the best resources for their situation. The conversation is a collaborative effort to identify a path towards housing stability, especially when a solution is not readily available.
“Just as our industry provides housing for thousands of locals, the Lowcountry Continuum of Care provides housing resources to those who need it most. The Charleston Apartment Association is honored to come together for such a noble cause – especially during these difficult times” said Donna Bolewitz, President, Charleston Apartment Association.
