Lowcountry Careers Collaborative in Healthcare offers comprehensive education and training, aimed at paving the way for rewarding opportunities in the healthcare industry. What makes this program special is that support doesn't end after you begin your training. You'll gain access to a variety of additional services to help you advance in the next steps of your career, creating the opportunity for career and salary growth.

Making a life change may feel challenging. Questions about how you can take the first steps, how you'll get to and from classes and trainings and who you can turn to for childcare, all may come to mind. Don't worry! We are with you.

In addition to providing access to the education you need to grow, Lowcountry Careers Collaborative in Healthcare is here to provide support through childcare assistance, ensuring reliable transportation, career services that help you find job opportunities that fit your needs and guidance that helps you understand the pathways to your success.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to receive tuition assistance and/or supportive services from the Lowcountry Careers Collaborative, you must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester Counties;
  • Have a High School diploma or GED; and
  • Have interest in or are currently enrolled in a training program that ends by September 30, 2025

Career Training Available

Patient Care Technician (PCT)
PCT's assist nurses and other medical staff by providing direct personal care for patients – this may include feeding, cleaning and other tasks to ensure patients are comfortable.
Average Annual Wage $32,490 - $35,720
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
CMAs are responsible staging patients in preparation to see providers – this may include verifying patient information, record retrieval, communication of clinical advice and other administrative or clinical duties to ensure optimization of the patient experience.

Emergency Medical Technician
EMTs are trained to assess patient conditions, provide basic life support, and transport patients to healthcare facilities in emergency situations. This job may involve working in ambulances, hospitals, and emergency departments. EMTs must have strong communication skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work under pressure.

Sterile Processing Technician
Sterile processing technicians are responsible for sterilizing medical equipment to ensure instruments are free of contaminants before being used for surgery and/or patient care. This job often involves working in a healthcare facility and requires knowledge of infection control protocols to maintain patient safety.
