The Civic Leaders Academy provides participants with the knowledge and tools needed to step into leadership roles within their communities. Whether you're looking to run for public office or serve on appointed boards and commissions, this program will equip you with the skills to succeed. Through a series of engaging sessions, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

Throughout the course, you'll explore essential topics such as campaign planning, networking, data-driven decision-making and building a strong regional perspective. You’ll also have the chance to hear firsthand from current officeholders and community leaders about their experiences in public service. With a focus on both learning and real-world application, the program will help you build a strategic network and develop the confidence to lead in any civic role.

Civic Leaders Academy Information

Curriculum:

Gain insight on the challenges facing our region, campaigning, fundraising, data-driven decision-making and what it takes to be an impactful civic leader.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Desire to serve on a board, commission, county council, city council, or in the state house/senate.
  • Eager to learn about the government's role in community development, economic prosperity, transportation and infrastructure.

  • Chamber, CTAR and CHBA Members: $350
  • Non-Members: $500
